The United States Boxer Association (USA-BOX) was formed in 1993 for the purpose
of advancing and preserving the original working heritage of the Boxer. We are the
only organization in the USA of our kind and the only US representative of ATIBOX.
Our shows and trials follow the German/European show and trial model as set forth
by the German Boxer Club (bk-muenchen.de) and ATIBOX. We also accept and abide by
the FCI standard (FCI Breed Standard - Deutscher Boxer ) for the Boxer breed. Many
of our members, to prove the ongoing merits of the Boxer as a premier working dog,
train and participate in the sport of schutzhund (What is schutzhund?). Training
and being successful in this sport requires a life-long commitment as it is NOT easy!
It also requires you to have a dog that's mentally and physically cut out for it.
Unfortunately, not every Boxer has what it takes to be a schutzhund competitor. Every
one, even those bred from strong working lines, has different levels of drive(s)
and different levels of interest in particular activities. That doesn't make one
Boxer better than another, though. Oh no! EVERY Boxer is the greatest dog on the
face of the Earth! You may have a schutzhund star. Another may rock the obedience
and agility rings. One may be an “all arounder” that loves to do everything and does
everything well. One may be content to play around the yard and go for leisurely
walks. The most important fact is that YOUR Boxer brings a smile to your face every
single day of its life, regardless of *what* it is doing. There is no greater reward
than that!
